The Filter Roll in Action

How a double hold-down roll gives filter makers 100% coverage in a single pass.

See the Filter Roll

The air filter business runs on volume and consistency. A cut-and-cap operation may glue thousands of frames in a shift, and every one has to hold. That is the job the DATCO Filter Roll was built to do. It is a variation of our industry-tested Hot Roll, adapted specifically for the people who make air filters.

The Cut-and-Cap Challenge

In cut-and-cap filter assembly, thin cardboard frames are folded and glued around pleated media. The frames are light and narrow, which makes them hard to run over a standard roll coater without slipping or getting uneven coverage.

Patchy glue means weak seams and rejected filters. Too much glue means waste and mess. The margin for error is small, and it repeats on every frame.

The Double Hold-Down Roll

The Filter Roll comes standard with a double hold-down roll. This is the difference. It keeps thin filter frames flat and steady as they pass over the application roll, so you get full, even coverage in a single pass.

No extra mat. No second application. No touch-up. Frames run over the roll with 100% coverage, which cuts glue waste and speeds up assembly.

Why Filter Makers Choose It

100% Coverage

The double hold-down roll ensures full, even glue on every thin frame in one pass.

Less Waste

Even application means less glue used per frame and fewer rejects down the line.

Faster Assembly

One pass, no mats or accessories — less time spent building each filter.

Serviceable Parts

Off-the-shelf components and controls keep the line running with minimal downtime.

Sized for Your Line

The Filter Roll is available in 6″ and 12″ lengths. The 6″ unit is 750 watts and holds 2 lbs of adhesive; the 12″ unit is 1500 watts and holds 4 lbs. Both come with Delta microprocessor temperature controls, a Brother International AC gear motor, and an electronic variable-speed drive. Under-temperature protection keeps the motor from starting until the unit is up to temperature, so you get a clean coat from the first frame.

Like everything we build, the Filter Roll is made in our Tennessee machine shop, and it is one of our best-selling machines for good reason.
